The Spice Girls arrived early at the GM Place arena in Vancouver to prepare for the concert, and the atmosphere backstage was very relaxed. We even spotted the girls wandering around in their specially-designed tracksuits and dressing gowns – complete with their Spice nicknames on their backs.

Before the show began, the girls sat down backstage with the world's press for radio, television and print interviews – so look out today and this week for those articles appearing in your national media.

Soccer star David Beckham flew in to Vancouver on Sunday to support his wife Victoria, and surprised the girls backstage by presenting each of them with a good luck bracelet.

As the performance approached, Emma, Geri, Mel B, Melanie C and Victoria huddled together backstage for their pre-show ritual of jumping up and down and screaming.

As they came off stage at the end of the magnificent show, Mel B shrieked: "That was AMAZING! It's brilliant to be back on tour again."

All of the girls agreed that the audience in Vancouver was fantastic, giving their first show an incredibly warm and loud reception. Which means, the challenge is on for the audience in San Jose, the next stop on The Return Of The Spice Girls tour.

The girls will see you there on Tuesday… get ready to rock the HP Pavilion San José!
